Obsession with happiness

“So what is my biggest obsession,” I asked today. It’s really fascinating how a person defines his/her priorities.

I was talking to a friend while on the bus today, and I could partially understand how you can relate to human beings based on their priorities… and I think it was very interesting.

After talking to him for about 20 minutes about this, we came to the realization that the things that are most important to us/most obsessed in are the things we have least faith in.

Somehow I think that the people who are obsessed with getting high marks for example are most anxious and worried about their work and future career. People who are most obsessed about finding the “one” to love are most afraid they would never find him/her. And I think the list goes for everything else… all kinds of obsessions; they all have fear factors… what’s the thing you’re obsessed about? I think that includes your biggest fear.

Fear, the opposite of faith, is the reason behind our obsessions…
So once we remove our fears by faith, we can be free from our obsessions, and just be happy, easy going people!

Haha… feels like I’ve uncovered the secret to a happy life…

And just to make this post worth it to some, here’s a picture I took of the bus driver… do you think he’s happy? I’m not sure, but I know one thing, I’m thankful for the life God has given me… and I hope he is too.

I agree on most of what you said.

Yet, I don't think that fear is the opposite of faith. The opposite of faith might be indifference, skepticism or surrender.

Thanks a lot Master of Ceremony,

well, I think there is a difference between believing in something and having faith in it.

I may believe in God, that He exists, yet don't have enough FAITH that He will help me in a certain situation... or that He will give me the great life He desires for me.

I think if you know that something will surely happen, this is called faith, and if you're uncertain about it, you'll be having doubts and fears.

hmm...first of all well done my friend, you analyze this thing in very good way,

now..i dont think if you have a certainty in choosing your path you will get rid of obsession and worries, and sure you will not find happiness too, i like to believe that all these obsessions and worries ; all that give us the meaning of life , the power which gave us the strength to wake up in the morning , the urge of success, without all these worries and uncertainty our life will be meaningless and colorless,

our greatest fears are the same as our happiness ,but it needs just a different point of view to taste each of them ,and to know the exact meaning of each.

Thanks a lot Dr. Mohammed...

Well, I believe there are always two derives that make us do anything; fear and love.
When I used the term obsession, I used it to talk about the bad parts, the parts that keep us anxious, that keep us in an emotional roller coaster... and I believe these obsessions are ruled by fear.
But I still believe there is another derive in our life, namely love, which includes our passions, our family and friends, and anything else we love and enjoy doing.

That is why I believe one should choose a job that he/she likes, that way the reason for work would be love, not fear.

But I think an obsession (ruled by fear) is a bad thing whatever it might be, as it kills one's spirit, and keeps him/her, as I said, in an emotional roller coaster.
